"Lots for Tots" Helps MES Students Give Back to Community

Manor ISD is proud to recognize the Student Council from Manor Elementary School, as they partnered with the Babybuns For Life Network to collect and donate several bags of necessities.

The Manor Elementary School Student Council completed their Spring 2017 Service Project on February 28th. Their project, "LOTS FOR TOTS”, began in January when they started collecting items for the teenage mothers in the Manor community. This became a school-wide project, where grade levels competed to see who could bring in the most items.

Students helped collect and fill 30 blessing bags full of new items such as baby wash, lotion, washcloths, teethers, pacifiers, baby food, toddler snacks, cereal, formula and other essentials. The bags, along with boxes of diapers, blankets and clothing were delivered to the Mustang Student Health Center by the MES Student Council. The bags will go to help teenage mothers in need.

"Our StuCo students were so excited to see how much of an impact that their project will be able to make," said Melanie Griffin-Hamlin, MES Student Council Co-Advisor. "We look forward to working again with them in the near future."

Students also met with the staff of the MISD Student & Family Support Services, and received a tour of the facility where they saw first hand how their project will help their own community. Manor ISD congratulates these amazing student volunteers and very proud of their hard work!
